Beauty School Dropouts No Longer: Salon Owners Go To Business School

Forget the stereotypical beauty school student with the crazy do and the scarce brain cells.  Forget the strip mall cosmetology schools and their cheap handicam-created late night ads.  Serious salon owners and managers are going to Business School!
UCLA’s Anderson School of Management now opens its doors to salon owners and/or senior managers.  UCLA’s Executive Salon Management Program is a five-day intensive program lead by Anderson’s professors and associate professors of Economics, Management, and operations and decision sciences, by salon consultant Peter Mahoney (owner of 25 full-service salons) and other industry experts.  The program is sponsored by Business Education for Salons Today (BEST) and the Global Salon Business Awards.
The sessions cover topics including technical and artistic expertise, managing people, business strategy, financial accounting and cash flow management and marketing.  Salon owners/senior managers also create a personal Salon Improvement Project, a small group project that allows immediate application of classroom teachings and instructor feedback to design solutions for their own salons.
