Career Gear: Bridge to Picard, This Headset Rocks

Posted on | October 31, 2007 | No Comments

Okay. The headline’s a little cheesy, but I can’t help it. This headset makes me feel like I’m a part of the Star Fleet Enterprise crew. Beam me up somebody!

The Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth Headset is the most highly rated headset ever. CNET gave it an 8.7 rating, it’s highest ever for the category, and Engadget, MacWorld and Gizmodo also rated the Jawbone highly and recommended it for anyone looking for a quality bluetooth headset.Aliph Jawbone bluetooth headset at careersthatdontsuck.com

I purchased the Aliph to replace the headset that came with phone and found it a vast improvement in terms of sound and fit. My old headsets either slipped off my ears or forced me to constantly smash them into the side of my head in order to hear and be heard. The Aliph is the cure for the generic headset.

So what’s all the fuss about?

  • What’s most exciting and unique about the Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headset is something Aliph calls “Noise Shield Technology”, a proprietary technology that virtually eliminates all background noise from your call, and seamlessly adjusts the speaker output as your background noise changes so you can hear your caller’s voice better. Jawbone’s intelligent system of sensors, software, and ergonomic features allows you to use your mobile phone in any environment without shouting or straining to hear.
  • Jawbone dynamically adjusts volume and frequency of the incoming speech to maximize intelligibility in any noise environment.
  • I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the beautiful, sexy yet simple design. The Jawbone was designed by renowned designer Yves Behar, who also designed Herman Miller’s Leaf LED lamp, a line of lifestyle goods for Mini (the car maker), the new line of Birkenstocks, a chandelier for Swarovski and the $100 laptop for MIT’s Nicholas Negroponte.
  • Finally, the price is very low, around $120.

The Jawbone is compatible with Macs and PCs and works best with GSM phones (Cingular and T-Mobile phones) versus CDMA phones (Spring and Verizon). You can also use it with two devices–your iPhone and your Blackberry.

The only drawbacks I found were that the Jawbone does not support call waiting or call swapping, and that, while you can listen to music on the phone, the sound is not nearly as good as when you are listening to someone else’s voice on the headset.
