BusinessWeek’s “2007 Best MBA Programs” list was published yesterday. The list included the top full-time, part-time and executive MBA programs, and open enrollment executive education programs in the U.S. Of greatest interest to me is always the part-time MBA programs. These are the programs specifically designed for career advancers, and job and career changers.
HOW THE RANKINGS WERE COMPILED
BusinessWeek obtained information on program cost, GMAT scores, work experience, class size, tenured faculty and completion rates from the schools.
They surveyed 3,209 part-time MBA students from 81 programs to get the student satisfaction score, part 1 of a 3-part score.
Part 2 of the 3-part score is a quality score that consists of 6 equally-weighted measures:
- Average GMAT score
- Average work experience of students
- Tenured faculty as a percent of all faculty
- Average class size in core business classes
- Number of business electives available to students
- Program’s completion rate
The final part of the 3-part score is the “post-MBA outcome” measure (Respondents were asked whether their program was “completely” responsible for them achieving their goals).
The Part-time MBA programs were ranked in order of their scores.
