JOB TITLE: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
REPORTS TO: BOARD OF DIRECTORS
LOCATION: OAKLAND, CA
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with 18 employees and annual budget of $1.8M. Our organization helps former foster youth between the ages of 18 and 24 to make successful transitions into adulthood and into living independently.
With little services and support, hundreds of emancipated foster youth may fall victim to homelessness, incarceration, or substance abuse. Our organization provides services including health care, transitional housing and housing referral, access to education, employment readiness and referral, mentoring and life skills training.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the overall management of the organization’s programs, services, and operations. The executive director is a visionary with the ability to take our programs to the next level by developing strategy, responsibly managing the organization’s finances, training and developing staff, ensuring appropriate funding levels and promoting organizational growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Responsible for day-to-day agency operations
• Drives results and successful client outcomes
• Ensures effective and appropriate programming
• Collaborates with the Board of Directors to develop the agency’s growth, funding and programming strategies
• Drives organizational effectiveness via development of formal policies, procedures and operational controls
• Supervises senior managers and directors
• Ensures agency is staffed appropriately
• Oversees agency fundraising and resource development
• Responsible for developing and monitoring the agency budget and spending
• Represents the agency at community meetings and events, and in relations with external partners, government leaders, foundations, community-based organizations, and volunteers
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred
• A minimum of 5 years as an executive director, managing director or development director, preferably in a nonprofit organization or related setting
• At least 3 years of program development experience
• Fiscal and budget management experience
• Strong supervisory skills and experience
• A history of successful fundraising
• Excellent communication skills
SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary – $80,000 (low-mid)
