San Francisco Job Market Shaken, Not Stalled

Posted on | May 30, 2008 | No Comments

There are days that I wish I’d chosen a cheaper, slower burg to call home. And then there are days when I’m glad I live in one of the highest cost, most dynamic and diversified markets in the country. I’m talking about the San Francisco Bay Area. Even without directly factoring in the impact of Silicon Valley, the market for jobs and business opportunities is a special one.

Though the economy is sputtering, the Bay Area continues to amaze me. Just when I think that the housing market is about to finally scrape bottom, my neighbor’s house sells in 8 days at a price above its $1.4M asking price.

Just when I think no one’s buying anything, my neighbors bust out with smart cars. And, just when I think the job market is stalled, my friends continue to land superstar jobs that pay upwards of $250k and to start new ventures that require $7M+ in venture funding.

Gotta love it!

I know I do. I want you to love it too. So, I took a quick look at SF-based companies to see who is hiring. Here’s a quick list.
