Judgement Day: Governator Terminates Workers’ Paychecks

Governor Schwarzenegger (Ca.) has come up with an ingenius plan whose only purpose must be to remind us that he’s only acting smart.  His new executive order (currently in draft) will cut the hourly pay of 200,000 state workers to $6.55.  This rate is equivalent to the federal minimum wage, $1.45 less than California’s state minimum wage.

The Governator’s apparent goal is to goad the legislature into approving a budget for the state.  Schwarzenegger claims this drastic measure will save the state $1B a month, and that without it California will run out of cash in September.

Needless to say, this is plan will not win any popular votes.  Union leaders, politicians and individual workers are gearing up to fight the order should Schwarzenegger actually try to implement it.
