Under the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program created by P.L. 110-252, the Supplemental Appropriations Act, which President Bush signed into law on June 30, 1.55 million unemployed workers who exhaust the 26 weeks of government checks they would normally receive will get an additional 13 weeks of help as they search for a job.
The program effectively began July 6, 2008, and will terminate on March 28, 2009.
To apply you’ll need to contact your state’s unemployment agency.
