What’s 70% of $30M? Yours.

If you had taken advantage of the App Store opportunity alert I posted (Read “The iPhone Opportunity”), you’d be holding a nice chunk of change right about now.  The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple’s App Store earned $30M in revenue in its first month of operation.App Store at Careersthatdontsuck.com

For every dollar earned from the sale of an app, Apple earns 30% and the app’s developer earns 70%.  Anyone can add an app to the App Store and make it available to thousands of iPhone users.  The only limits on your creativity are Apple’s Developer guidelines (and the mysterious force that seems to be kidnapping apps).

If you missed out on the first round, it’s not too late.  This first month’s success–the popularity of apps and the gobs of money they’ve earned–virtually guarantees that iPhone users (and, unfortunately, other developers) who haven’t checked into the App Store will, if only so that they don’t feel left out.  Who knows?  Maybe they’ll find your app the next time they log in.

Take advantage of this opportunity!
