FBI Hiring Blitz Puts Online Hiring on the Blink

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s director of human resources announced a hiring blitz stating that the agency would hire to fill 2,100 staff positions and 850 special agent positions.  Shortly thereafter, unemployed, paycheck-starved Americans blitzed the FBI’s employment site temporarily shutting the system down.

The FBI has since posted the following notice:

Based on the overwhelming response to our Hiring Initiative, the applicant hiring system is being enhanced to facilitate more efficient processing of your application and will be available shortly.  The deadline for applications will be extended to accommodate this brief interruption.

Outages aside, this hiring blitz is great news!  The FBI is hiring to fill positions including computer scientists, financial analysts, drivers, mechanics, secretaries, engineers, linguists, material handlers, nurses, architects, even “woodcrafters”.

Try your best to get online and apply ASAP (you’ve got 10.5 million competitors).  But, if you do miss the deadline, there are still jobs with private companies who want to hire folks to work in parts of their businesses that work closely with government agencies.
