Jobless Claims Drop by 34,000

In what analysts are hoping is yet another sign that the worst job cuts are over, new applications for jobless benefits unexpectedly fell by 34,000 to 601,000 in the week ended May 2. According to figures from the Department of Labor, this is the smallest number of applications since late January.
