No job can compete with “the world’s greatest job”–island-sitting blogger–but that job has been filled. There were 34,000 applicants and they all lost to a Brit named Ben. But, don’t fret. There may yet be a great job out there for you. I can’t promise you’ll get paid six figures to snorkel, but I can promise you won’t be competing with 34,000 other applicants.
These jobs are plentiful, but the competition for these jobs is few. The following is a list of jobs with the largest number of vacancies and the smallest number of unemployed people vying for them. They are listed in order from fewest competitors to largest number of competitors per job opening. As you might imagine, jobs that require the least education or experience are the most competitive. A ratio of 0.4 means there is fewer than one unemployed person per job opening.
