According to the Conference Board, there are 3,295,500 jobs posted online now, up 700 over the month of June.  The fields showing the greatest increase in jobs posted are Sales and Management.  In the month of July, these fields added 11,700 and 9,400 jobs, respectively, and they’ve been adding jobs for at least the last 3 months.  Other fields have not been so prolific.

Online job demand, as measured by the number of job ads posted online, seems to have held steady at around 3.3 million jobs per month for the past 6 months.  Unfortunately, competition for these jobs has steadily increased over the same period.  There are nearly 5 unemployed people for each of the 3.3 million jobs.  Of course, the number of competitors is higher or lower, depending on the state in which you live or job hunt.  Michigan’s the most competitive with nearly 11 unemployed people for every job; Maryland’s the least competitive with 2 unemployed people per job.

Regardless of your job market, now’s as good a time as any to ratchet up your job search game and go after one of the 3.3 million jobs available now.
