Jobless Claims Down, But Not Enough
Posted on | September 3, 2009 | No Comments
According to the Labor Department, last week marked another week of declining jobless claims. The number of new claims fell to 570,000, down from 574,000 the prior week. Meanwhile, the number of people continuing to receive unemployment benefits rose by 92,000 to 6.23 million. The good news is that we can take heart that layoffs are tapering off; the bad news is not nearly enough.
