10 Metros The Recession Nearly Missed

These metropolitan areas, like every other, felt some impact from the recession. But, unlike other metros, these 10 lost the fewest jobs (less than 3.2%), had the smallest increases in their unemployment rates (less than 4%), experienced the smallest percentage loss in gross metropolitan product (less than 6%) and suffered the smallest drop in housing prices (less than 5%) when compared to their peak pre-recession performance measures. That makes these metros fertile ground for starting or growing business ventures, and for finding a new job.
