4,024,000 Jobs Online Now!

Posted on | February 3, 2010 | No Comments

For the first time since November 2008 the number of job vacancies listed online is more than 4 million.  The rise in jobs is due to the rise in the fortunes of large U.S. firms (78% of the S&P 500 exceeded their profit forecasts).  The U.S. economy grew a whopping 5.7% in Q4 2009.  It was only a matter of time before the job market began to thaw.  Cracks are beginning to appear.

According to the Conference Board, employers posted 382,000 new jobs in January, bringing the total number of jobs posted online to 4,024,000.  That’s one job for every 4.2 unemployed people in the U.S.

Not all states are created equal.  Some job-seekers will benefit more and sooner from the job market thaw.  Employers in states like California and New York posted record job gains between December and January.  Here’s a list of the states that added the most jobs.

BIGGEST JOB GAINERS

1. California +68,000

2. Florida +26,000

3. Texas +28,000

4. New York +20,000

5. Ohio +17,000

Only Virginia saw a drop in jobs between December and January.  And, that’s great news!  Your new job awaits.
