4,150,000 Jobs Online Now!

According to the Conference Board, there are 4,150,000 jobs posted online now, an increase of 222,700 jobs–all added during the month of April.  That means job demand is up and prospects are improving for job-seekers who now have to compete with fewer than 4 (3.82) job-seekers for each job posted online.

Employers in every region increased demand for workers, but some states clearly outpaced others in terms of job growth.

INCREASED JOB DEMAND BY REGION

(based on # of jobs posted between April and May)

  • South – 68,500
  • Northeast – 64,500
  • Midwest – 58,000
  • West – 44,700

BIGGEST JOB GAINERS BY STATE

While demand was up across a wide range of jobs, management and computer and mathematical jobs led other occupations in job growth during the month of April.
